Benji the amazing dog got mixed up in some intergalactic mishaps!

In 1983 there was a live action Saturday morning show called Benji, Zax, and the Alien Prince.

Synopsis:

A tyrant named Zanu has taken control of the distant planet of Antars. Zanu has the king of Antars killed and imprisons thequeen (who dies later, as explained in a future episode). Their son and heir prince Yubi, played by Christopher Burton, has escaped to Earth with his droid Zax, voiced by Rod Spiegel. When Yubi and Zax land on Earth they are befriended by a stray dog named Benji who remains their companion for the run of the series. Two bounty hunters named Darah and Khyber, along with their droid Zord, are sent to Earth to find and to capture Yubi. Most of the plot involves Darah and Khyber chasing Benji, Zax and Yubi around town in a black Chevy van, and their efforts almost always end in failure, largely due to Khyber’s ineptitude.

In order to survive on Earth, Antarians must wear a special bracelet, known as a cipher. In the episode “The Locals”, Prince Yubi’s cipher is stolen by a gang of kids and he gets very sick without it.

The robots in the television series are called droids despite the fact that George Lucas holds a trademark on the term “droid”.

The cool thing about Match Game the point of the game was the random contestants would try to guess what racy jokes the celeb panel would make from the question and the audience would get so mad when the contestant would miss the obvious funny offensive joke.

Charles Nelson Reilly is such a style and comedy icon to me. He and Paul Lynde were the 2 faces of only mildly veiled homosexuality in Hollywood/comedy in the 60s and 70s. Charles and Paul were both hilarious, stylish, unapologetic for who they were but also self deprecating, and masters performance and timing.

CNR was also smoking a pipe and making fun of his own toupees and cracking wise on everyone around him.

I also got to help him at a retail store that I worked at in like 1996.

Amazing image. Clearly cut and paste. How could this be the imagery for this mellow schmaltz? Lionel looks wild in the eye and Diana looks too cool for school. The additional grit is so incongruous with the music. Nothing/everything is right about this.

Calville Blanc d’Hiver

Maybe my most treasured varietal of special fall heirloom apple that only shows up briefly each year. Big and grotesque and unwieldy and looking like a green pepper and tart as a pop tart (it’s actually quite tart, but not too much so to not allow a little sweetness to slip through and make it a great combo). Also, super crunch factor!
