My buddy went to the Blazers’ preseason game at the Memorial Coliseum where they don’t have big video screens or scoreboards with player info.
New Blazer Wes Matthews was playing well and my buddy was inquisitive about this new Blazer. From his vantage point he read Wes last name as Mittens because of the M and the ts and the s and the w looking like a n.
We decided this is a really great nickname for Wes. At the game last night against the Timberwolves ol’ Mittens was getting his hands on the ball so much on the defensive end: swiping the ball away from dribblers, and disrupting passes. Using his hands like Mittens.
It is now official. He is Wes Mittens.
